Volunteer

Volunteers play an essential role in our organization. OneEighty deals with sexual abuse, drug intervention, and other sensitive topics; due to that fact, we treat and recruit volunteers like employees. If you’re interested in volunteering with OneEighty we offer three options.

Group Volunteer Projects- OneEighty welcomes groups to assist with projects. Please reach out to Dwight Sprang, Volunteer Coordinator, for more information.

Auxiliary Committee- Committee members help plan events that fundraise and educate the public about OneEighty.  Committee's meet monthly. To learn more about our auxiliary committee's please contact Dwight Sprang, Volunteer Coordinator.

Trained Volunteer- OneEighty hosts sessions through out the year. The sessions are an overview of the services and programs OneEighty offers to prepare a volunteer to work with the community or a client. An application is required to become a trained volunteer.  After an application has been submitted, we will conduct interviews of the applicant to answer any questions.  Qualified candidates are offered a volunteer position and scheduled for one of our training sessions.  Please review the application information below.

It's important to note that not all volunteers are eligible for all positions. Volunteers may be asked to complete a drug test, background check and/or TB test.
If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position, please complete and submit the application at your earliest convenience. If you have any other questions, please call our Main Office at 330-264-8498 and ask for Dwight Sprang, Volunteer Coordinator.

OneEighty uses Volunteer Levels to determine the specific requirements of different volunteer positions:

  • Entry Level - Positions that do not have direct contact with clients or confidential information. These positions require a one-day, 2-hour training and include responsibilities like working in the events, donation room, cleaning, or maintenance work.
  • Intermediate Level - Positions that have minimal contact with clients and/or confidential information.  These positions require a two-day training totally 8-10 hrs.  This would include Men Working for Change, Archiving records, Community Education and Outreach Assistant.
  • Advanced Level - Positions that will have direct contact with clients, and/or confidential information. These jobs include working in the shelter/residential housing and hospital advocacy. These positions require up to 25 hours of training over 5-7 days.  Volunteers must be at least 18 years old with proof of a high school diploma/equivalency.
