OneEighty offers professional Mental Health Counseling services by licensed clinical staff focused on recovery from abuse, mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorders, and substance use counseling. It is not uncommon for people who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or other forms of trauma to experience mental health symptoms or develop a substance use disorder. Our mental health counselors offer multiple evidence-based treatments for adults, children, and teens. Couples and family counseling can also be provided when it is safe to preserve the family.

What Mental Health Conditions do we treat?

  • Mood Disorders (depression and bipolar)
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Trauma Disorders

While these are our focus areas, we can engage with many individuals and with many mental health disorders. We will also work with the client to establish appropriate recommendations and referrals for treatment.

Individualized Mental Health Counseling

At OneEighty, we know that everyone goes through different events in their lives. What works for one person might not work for another. That's why we offer a variety of evidence-based practices to help you find what works best for you.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Have you been through something difficult that still affects you today? We understand how past experiences can shape the way you see the world. Our therapists create a safe and supportive space for individuals to talk about what happened and heal at your own pace.
  • Person-Centered Therapy: We believe you are the expert on your own life experiences. Our mental health therapists will work with clients to understand their goals and develop a treatment plan that's right for them.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):Sometimes your thoughts, feelings, and actions can get stuck in a negative loop. CBT helps individuals identify these patterns and develop healthy coping mechanisms to feel better.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Do you ever feel overwhelmed by your emotions? DBT teaches skills for managing intense feelings in a healthy way so you can reach your long-term goals.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): EMDR is a unique approach to dealing with past trauma. It helps people process what happened without focusing too much on talking. Instead, clients learn ways to recognize how their body reacts to stress and develop positive thoughts about themselves.
  • Emotion-Focused Family Therapy: Families go through ups and downs, and sometimes emotions run high. This type of therapy helps families understand each other's feelings and develop healthier communication patterns.

This is just a brief overview of some of the evidence-based mental health counseling and services we offer and know that they work. If you have any questions or are unsure which approach might be right for you and your family, we are always here to help.

A Holistic Approach to Residential Treatment Care

At OneEighty, we believe in treating the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. That's why we offer a variety of holistic therapies and services alongside our traditional therapy programs. These therapies and services can help individuals develop healthy habits and coping mechanisms that support their mental well-being and are only available at the residential facilities. For more information, visit our Residential Treatment page.

Making Mental Health Counseling Accessible for Everyone

At OneEighty, we want to make sure mental health counseling is within reach for everyone. Here's how we're making it more accessible:

  • Sliding Fee Scale: We offer a sliding fee scale based on income. This means the cost of therapy is adjusted based on how much money someone makes. Currently, this program is only available for Wayne and Holmes County residents.
  • Insurance: If clients have insurance (including Medicaid), it can cover some or all of their therapy costs. We can help clients understand if they are eligible and how to apply.
  • Financial Assistance: To see if you qualify for our sliding fee scale, we'll need to see your most recent pay stubs to verify your income. This includes your regular wages (not overtime) and any income from your spouse or dependents under 18

“Going to counseling is all encompassing. Weekly counseling keeps me on track just like going to church.”

- From Jo age 68 successful recovery from early childhood abuse and addiction -

Sarah arrived at OneEighty “very, very distraught, and in a dark place.” She was to the point where she wanted her pain to end. She first went to housing, to find some alternative to living in an alcoholic household. The housing department noted Sarah’s extreme distress and requested a counselor to provide crisis intervention. The counselor came immediately. Sarah said, “Just talking about it, knowing I wasn’t by myself, and that it [her distress] was normal without being judged” provided great help. She continues to work on her thoughts, emotions and memories in counseling. Sarah believes that the “biggest change is that I feel stronger about myself, because I’m able to set those boundaries. And I hope I can continue to feel better and get stronger.” Sarah says that for anyone considering coming to OneEighty, “I think it’s the best decision you could possibly make. It saved my life.”
