At OneEighty, our team is deeply committed to helping people “change direction” through sustainable recovery and purposeful rebuilding of lives. The challenges that come with this work—addressing trauma, providing support for addiction recovery and victim services and serving diverse community members—are numerous. It’s a mission that requires skilled individuals with empathy and an unwavering commitment to supporting recovery journeys.

Recently, OneEighty conducted a survey to understand what our staff members are most grateful for, especially as they continue to serve others in their demanding roles. Their answers beautifully illustrate our organization’s culture of support, empathy, and resilience. Here’s a look at some of the responses that capture the heart of OneEighty’s mission and the gratitude that sustains us in our shared journey.

Gratitude for Family, Health, and Life’s Simple Gifts

When asked what they are personally grateful for, OneEighty team members spoke about family, children, health, and the gifts that add meaning to their lives. One response stood out: “Having a second chance and the people that believed in me to do better.” This sentiment resonates with our mission of supporting second chances and providing hope to those in need. It’s a reminder that OneEighty doesn’t just change lives—it empowers people to embrace new beginnings and reach their potential.

Another team member appreciated something as simple as “my glasses; without them, I could not drive or effectively do my job.” This answer highlights how gratitude can be found in everyday places, and it’s a great incentive to see your surroundings through new eyes.

One response truly encapsulates the impact of OneEighty’s work: “A client telling me I made them feel comfortable in a vulnerable time of their life.” In a field where people often experience deep vulnerability, the ability to create a safe and supportive space is a gift.

Another response highlighted the importance of small but meaningful gestures: “I am grateful for the friendliness of neighbors supporting me in efforts around my house.” This reflection shows how the kindness we extend within our professional roles often mirrors the support we receive from our broader community.
