Celebrating Gratitude at OneEighty: Reflections from Our Team
As we enter the season of giving and gratitude, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the positive impact that surrounds us. At OneEighty, our team is deeply committed to helping people “change direction” through sustainable recovery and purposeful rebuilding of lives. The challenges that come with this work—addressing trauma, providing support for addiction recovery and victim services and serving diverse community members—are numerous. It’s a mission that requires skilled individuals with empathy and an unwavering commitment to supporting recovery journeys.
Recently, OneEighty conducted a survey to understand what our staff members are most grateful for, especially as they continue to serve others in their demanding roles. Their answers beautifully illustrate our organization’s culture of support, empathy, and resilience. Here’s a look at some of the responses that capture the heart of OneEighty’s mission and the gratitude that sustains us in our shared journey.
Gratitude for Family, Health, and Life’s Simple Gifts
When asked what they are personally grateful for, OneEighty team members spoke about family, children, health, and the gifts that add meaning to their lives. One response stood out: “Having a second chance and the people that believed in me to do better.” This sentiment resonates with our mission of supporting second chances and providing hope to those in need. It’s a reminder that OneEighty doesn’t just change lives—it empowers people to embrace new beginnings and reach their potential.
Another team member appreciated something as simple as “my glasses; without them, I could not drive or effectively do my job.” This answer highlights how gratitude can be found in everyday places, and it’s a great incentive to see your surroundings through new eyes.
Appreciation for Teamwork and Company Culture
Another survey question focused on what team members are grateful for in their work environment, and the responses revealed the deep sense of camaraderie within OneEighty. Many team members expressed gratitude for their coworkers. One participant shared, “I am grateful for my team at work. They are encouraging to each other, kind, and step in to help when someone else isn’t able to get something done.” This spirit of collaboration is essential in the challenging work OneEighty team members do daily. That support makes a difference.
Another team member noted, “A coworker took on work to help me when I was out sick. OneEighty promotes teamwork, which I am so grateful for.” At OneEighty, our culture of teamwork is more than just a philosophy; it’s a daily practice that empowers us to support each other and, in turn, better support our clients. The gratitude our team members feel for this collective effort reflects the values that make OneEighty a place of growth, empathy, and mutual respect.
Gratitude for Meaningful Connections
The survey also uncovered just how many OneEighty team members are grateful for our clients. One response truly encapsulates the impact of OneEighty’s work: “A client telling me I made them feel comfortable in a vulnerable time of their life.” In a field where people often experience deep vulnerability, the ability to create a safe and supportive space is a gift.
Another response highlighted the importance of small but meaningful gestures: “I am grateful for the friendliness of neighbors supporting me in efforts around my house.” This reflection shows how the kindness we extend within our professional roles often mirrors the support we receive from our broader community.
Finding Joy in Everyday Acts of Kindness
The final question of our survey focused on the small, daily actions that bring joy and gratitude to our team members. One employee expressed appreciation for “someone bringing coffee in for others,” a simple gesture that symbolizes the thoughtfulness present at OneEighty. Another team member noted the power of “kind words from clients,” underscoring the role of gratitude in lifting each other up, both within and outside of the workplace.
These everyday acts of kindness may seem small, but they are essential to maintaining a positive workplace culture. For OneEighty’s team, gratitude is not just a seasonal reflection—it’s woven into the fabric of our daily routines. Each act of kindness and support helps our team members recharge, enabling them to continue the vital work of helping people transform their lives.
A Season of Gratitude and Giving
As we reflect on the responses from our survey, it’s clear that gratitude is central to OneEighty’s mission and culture. From supporting second chances to creating a compassionate community, our team embodies the values that make OneEighty a place of hope, resilience, and transformation. This season, we honor our team members for their dedication and celebrate the gratitude that unites us.
Together, we move forward as advocates, hope providers, and recovery warriors committed to building a brighter future for the people and communities we serve.
