Reflecting on 2024: OneEighty’s Year in Review and Goals for 2025
As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on a year of challenges, growth, and progress at OneEighty. This year marked our 50th year in service. We have grown from a single-person organization to providing a full continuum of services including substance use, mental health, domestic violence, and so much more.
This year, despite funding constraints and workforce shortages, we remain steadfast in our mission to support individuals and families impacted by addiction, mental health struggles, and domestic violence. Our programs touched countless lives, with measurable successes and areas for continued improvement shaping our goals for 2025.
A Year Marked by Challenges and Growth
The theme of 2024 was resilience. While funding was a challenge, with fewer grants and government dollar available, we tightened our belts and leveraged every resource to maintain and expand our services. Our dedicated staff and volunteers ensured that critical programs reached those in need, and the results speak volumes.
OneEighty is structured to make the most of any funding available, with both service reimbursements and grants providing some security in a changing market. Executive Director Bobbi Douglas described this situation when reflecting on the year, “We have such a variety of funders. That gives us stability, so if a funding source goes away, we can keep needed services that are best for the community. It’s a juggling act.”
Despite these difficulties, OneEighty’s commitment to serving the community remained steadfast. Our organization served more individuals this year than in previous years, a testament to our dedication to improving access and engagement.
Workforce Challenges and Creative Solutions
OneEighty, like many organizations, faced a tight labor market, particularly in attracting licensed counselors, social workers, and residential staff. However, there were notable strides in overcoming this obstacle. OneEighty has worked hard to develop a culture where people want to work for us and people want to stay. The residential team is fully staffed for the first time in recent history, a significant milestone for OneEighty. Addressing these workforce challenges remains a priority as OneEighty works to ensure staff are fairly compensated and adequately supported. “We’re figuring out ways to ensure people receive the care they need, even with a limited pool of qualified professionals,” Bobbi said.
Despite these staffing challenges, OneEighty achieved remarkable milestones in 2024:
Key Performance Highlights:
- Residential Treatment:
- Served 187 clients (89 men and 115 women)
- Provided 8,121 days of treatment
- Achieved a 60% positive discharge rate and a 62% sobriety rate after 90 days
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP):
- Achieved a 92% positive discharge rate
- 97% attended at least 2 weeks of treatment
- 13% established/maintained stable housing
- 100% increased social connections
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP):
- Served 80 clients
- Provided 955 days of treatment
- Achieved a 100% positive discharge rate
- 97% attended at least 2 weeks of treatment
- 13% established/maintained stable housing
- 100% increased social connections
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT):
- Served 180 clients, including 18 pregnant women
- Achieved zero complications
- Peer Recovery Services:
- Served 326 clients
- Achieved an 83% sobriety rate after 30 days
- Received 586 hotline calls
- RAMP (Recovery and Addiction Medicine Program) in partnership with Wooster Community Hospital:
- Provided 394 counseling and discharge planning sessions
- Removing Barriers (Transportation):
- Provided 7,561 miles of transportation to 67 people
- Domestic Violence Services:
- Served 180 individuals
- Provided 10,739 days of service
- Provided 1,830 advocacy hours for 629 people
- Housing and Support Services:
- Supported 213 households
- Provided rental assistance to 64 households
- Prevented 56 evictions
- Community Relations and Prevention:
- Reached 1,066 students in 12 districts
- Conducted 80 presentations with 2,194 attendees
- Volunteer Services:
- Engaged 202 volunteers
- Logged 9,995 volunteer hours
Looking Ahead to 2025
Looking ahead, the focus for 2025 is clear: identifying and securing new funding streams to maintain and expand essential services. With federal COVID-19 relief funds no longer available and other grants diminishing, OneEighty is actively exploring innovative solutions, including accessing new funding streams, exploring entrepreneurial initiatives, and analyzing our own efficiency. “The ARPA funds and other COVID-19 relief are gone, so we need to think differently to ensure we have the resources to operate,” Bobbi said.
In addition to funding, OneEighty is committed to increasing capacity utilization and improving access to care. While 2024 saw growth in the number of people served, there is still room to expand and reach more individuals in need.
As OneEighty transitions into a new year, we remain laser-focused on our mission of supporting recovery, wellness, and community well-being. Furthermore, as the year of our 50th Anniversary, 2024 has been an incredible time to reflect on all the support we’ve received over the years and the impact we’ve had on the community.
